My course for beginners (Level 2) is designed to be completed by people who have completed my course of beginners (Level 1), those who have completed a couple of my workshops, or those who already have a working knowledge of basic sewing techniques, sewing machine use and pattern use.
Participants begin by choosing a more complex project, designed to connect different skills together so that they can be used in combination to complete a more complex task. Participants will pick from pants or shorts (with pocket), or a dress, or top.
Participants are encouraged to “take the next step” and push themselves to complete projects with more complex elements like elastic trim and belts, designs from patterns or magazines, necklines and armholes for different garment sizes, and interfacing. In each case participants will have an opportunity to take partially-completed projects or instructions home to continue their learning journey.
How is the course completed?
My Level 2 course is completed over 7 weeks, with one 2-2.5 hour session per week. I have multiple session options available throughout the week which means you can pick a day or evening spot that suits you. If you can’t make it to a particular session, I can usually reschedule to a different day that week, but I ask that you give 24 hours notice should this be necessary.
What is included?
All fabric, patterns, accessories and decorative elements, and equipment is included. For each project I have a range of styles and patterns to choose from which means you might complete the same project as another participant, but you’ll both create completely different things.
Participants can use my on-site sewing machines, or can bring their own if they want to learn to use the machine they have at home. You can also bring your own fabrics if you want to make something in a particular style. But you don’t need to bring anything but your enthusiasm.
