Hi, I’m Galina.
I have more than 25 years experience in fashion and design. I’ve run businesses as a dressmaker in Russia, and here in Australia.
After completing my degree, I worked for a number of fashion designers, producing a wide range of clothing in a variety of styles. I worked closely with couture designers and textiles artists from around the world, contributing to some super-exciting fashion projects. Following seasonal and technological trends, I gained a broad range of experience, and it’s a time I look back on fondly. My experience in creative spaces encouraged me to complete a masters degree in marketing.
I moved to Australia 10 years ago and have established a large network of friends and local small business owners here in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. I have since run several successful small businesses, creating garments for clients (you can see some of my previous projects in the gallery). I have my own dressmaking studio here in Australia and have exhibited my collection in galleries throughout Sydney.
I enjoyed teaching my children and their friends to sew, which further developed my interest in teaching and allowed me to see how rewarding it was to work with children. At the same time I was able to help some of my friends develop new skills and learn to sew.
I have continued to consult with new clothing and fashion businesses, helping them to create samples, manage design patents, and establish relationships with manufacturers.
I’m now focused on running workshops and courses for both new and experienced sewers. I also run a range of school holidays and after-school activities. I want to share my skills and experience with others. Join me, learn to sew and have fun with new projects!
